On Page SEO Tips
- Select your primary keyword phrase
- Choose one or two secondary phrases that are related to the primary phrase
Header Information
This is the information that the reader doesn’t see but is used by some search engines.
- Put the primary phase at the beginning of your keyword metatags
- Include the secondary keyword phrases also in the keyword metatag list.
Thus, if the primary phrase is “internet marketing program” it might look like this:
- Use both the primary and secondary keyword phrases in the description metatag:
- Don’t include keyword phrases that don’t also appear on the page
- Use the primary keyword phrase to name the page, using hyphens or underscores instead of spaces:

- Ensure that the primary keyword phrase is in the title of the Page
Page Body
- Use the primary key phrase between H1 Header tags in the content area.
- Use the primary key phrase in the first paragraph and 2 or 3 times more on the page, linking it with the secondary phrases.
- Use an H2 tag with the primary phrase in it and possibly bold text within the body of the page
- Ensure that you use the primary key phrase in the final paragraph.
- Use keywords as image names and for the alt-text for the images.
Links
Use keyword phrases in your links – both internal, to pages on your site, and external links pointing to your site. Thus, continuing the example from above. When I write an article at Ezinearticles, my resource box will often have a link to the internet marketing program page and the anchor text to that page will say “internet marketing program”.
The same thing applies when I link to pages on my own site. Thus avoid “click here” or “follow this link”. The anchor text should always be a keyword phrase.
